Phone Tapping Case: SIT Finishes 4.5-Hour Probe into KCR’s Role

A major political development unfolded in Telangana on Saturday as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) concluded its first round of questioning of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) in the high-profile phone tapping case. The SIT team arrived at KCR’s residence in Nandi Nagar in the afternoon and began questioning him at around 3:00 pm. What was initially expected to be a brief inquiry extended into a nearly four-and-a-half-hour session, drawing significant political and public attention.

Despite objections from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, who argued that questioning individuals over 65 should not extend beyond 6:00 pm, the investigation continued until 7:30 pm, marking the end of the first phase of the probe into KCR’s involvement in the alleged phone tapping activities during his tenure as CM. Following the questioning, KCR held a closed-door meeting with key party leaders, including K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, to brief them on the investigation’s proceedings.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that the SIT recorded both audio and video statements from KCR, which will serve as key material for the next stages of the inquiry. The political buzz surrounding the case continues to grow as speculation mounts over its impact on the BRS leadership and KCR's political future. The phone tapping case, which is shaping up to be one of the most significant investigations in Telangana’s political history, is expected to see further developments in the coming days.
