KGMU Stent Probe Widens As Lucknow Hospital Faces Fresh Inquiry

Lucknow’s King George’s Medical University is facing fresh scrutiny after allegations of irregularities in heart stent procedures surfaced during an ongoing medical inquiry. The university administration has widened its probe into cardiac treatment records, angiographies, and heart surgeries carried out over the past year.

Officials are examining claims that several patients were fitted with multiple stents, including cases where some patients allegedly received five stents each. Investigators are now checking whether these procedures were medically required and whether funds under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana were used properly.

Inquiry Focuses On Records And Payments

A five-member committee has been set up to review patient files, angioplasty details, stent implantation records, and payment documents. The administration has also cancelled leave for concerned doctors and staff, asking them to remain available for questioning and document checks.

Ayushman Mitra's handling of stent-related cases has been replaced with that of regular university staff. Officials are also collecting feedback from cardiac patients as part of the evidence.

Cancer Drug Probe Also Underway

The stent inquiry comes as KGMU is already probing alleged irregularities involving expensive cancer medicines. Authorities have said strict action may follow if wrongdoing is confirmed.
