Mark Zuckerberg Reassures Meta Employees After Major Layoff Round
Meta Employees Get Layoff Update
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has told employees that the company does not expect any more company-wide layoffs this year. The message came after nearly 8,000 Meta workers were informed through early morning emails that their roles had been cut. The latest layoff round affected around 10 percent of Meta’s global workforce, while about 7,000 employees were reassigned to new teams.
AI Push Behind Restructuring
In his memo, Zuckerberg said Meta must move faster as artificial intelligence becomes one of the most important technologies of this generation. He admitted that the company had not communicated clearly enough with employees and said this must improve. Zuckerberg also noted that success cannot be taken for granted, even for a company like Meta, as the tech industry enters a major AI-driven shift.
Severance And Future Plans
Meta has offered severance support to affected employees, including 16 weeks of pay and two extra weeks for every year of service, though the package may differ by region. The company has also reportedly stopped hiring for thousands of open roles. Savings from the restructuring are expected to support Meta’s large AI investments this year, as the company focuses on smaller teams, fewer management layers, and faster execution.
