US Air Force Tanker Aircraft Goes Missing Near Hormuz After Emergency Alert

A US Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker, widely known as a “flying gas station” for its mid-air refuelling capabilities, reportedly lost signal over the Gulf region near the Strait of Hormuz after transmitting a general emergency alert.

According to flight-tracking data, the Boeing aircraft transmitted the international emergency transponder code “7700” before disappearing from public radar near Qatar. Reports suggest the aircraft was conducting refuelling operations and was believed to be heading toward a military base at the time.

The emergency squawk code 7700 indicates a serious onboard issue and can be triggered by mechanical failure, fire, medical emergencies, or external threats. Shortly after the alert was detected, the aircraft’s transponder signal was reportedly lost from tracking systems.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region following recent developments involving Iran and the United States. Reports indicate the aircraft altered its course near the Strait of Hormuz before disappearing, adding to concerns.

As of now, there are no confirmed reports of debris, rescue operations, or distress calls linked to the aircraft. Authorities have not officially confirmed whether the aircraft crashed or safely landed after losing radar contact.
