Sabareesan Sends Legal Notices To TVK Ministers Over Graft Allegations

Sabareesan Warns TVK Leaders Over Corruption Allegations

V Sabareesan, son-in-law of senior DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, has issued legal notices to Tamilga Vettri Kazhagam ministers Aadhav Arjuna and Nirmal Kumar over corruption allegations made against him. The notices accuse the two TVK leaders of making baseless and defamatory remarks during separate press conferences and demand an immediate and unconditional apology.

According to the notices, Sabareesan has objected strongly to statements that allegedly linked him to corruption in government-related matters. Nirmal Kumar had reportedly referred to alleged irregularities in procurement connected to the Electricity Board department, while Aadhav Arjuna claimed Sabareesan had links to corruption across 16 government departments. Sabareesan has denied the allegations and called them false, baseless, and defamatory.

Legal Action Warning Deepens Political Tensions

The legal notices have added a new layer to the growing confrontation between the opposition DMK and the ruling TVK government in Tamil Nadu. Sabareesan has asked both leaders to withdraw their statements and apologise without conditions. He has warned that legal proceedings will follow if they fail to comply.

The dispute comes at a politically sensitive moment, with DMK president M K Stalin sharpening his attack on the C Joseph Vijay-led government. Stalin recently claimed that the ruling party does not have a majority on its own and is dependent on support from parties that had earlier been part of the DMK-led alliance.

Stalin Questions Stability Of Vijay Government

Speaking at a party event, Stalin argued that the present government was unstable and could face political uncertainty at any time. He said the TVK had won 108 seats, short of the 118 needed for a majority, and was surviving due to support from other parties.

Stalin also urged DMK workers to stay prepared for any political development, saying elections could come earlier than expected. His remarks followed fresh political movement in the state, including Vaiko’s MDMK leaving the DMK-led alliance and extending support to the TVK government.

The legal notice controversy is now likely to intensify the DMK-TVK battle, with both sides already engaged in a wider struggle over legitimacy, governance, and political stability in Tamil Nadu.
