Satwik-Chirag enter Singapore Open semis as Sindhu exits
Satwik-Chirag Storm Into Semi-Finals
India’s Singapore Open 2026 campaign produced mixed results as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty kept the country’s title hopes alive by entering the men’s doubles semi-finals. The Indian pair defeated Malaysia’s Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai in a hard-fought quarter-final match.
Satwik and Chirag lost the opening game 19-21 after a close battle, but they responded strongly in the second game with sharper attacks and better control at the net. The former world No. 1 pair won the next two games 21-17, 21-13 to complete an impressive comeback. Their powerful smashes and quick interceptions helped them dominate the deciding game and secure a semi-final spot.
Sindhu’s Run Ends In Quarter-Finals
PV Sindhu exited the women’s singles event after losing 17-21, 14-21 to Olympic champion and world No. 1 An Se Young. Sindhu stayed competitive in the first game and reduced the gap late, but a few errors helped An close it out.
The second game was tougher for Sindhu as An Se Young took an early lead and controlled the rallies with strong court coverage and accurate returns. The defeat extended Sindhu’s winless run against An to nine matches. India’s attention now turns to Satwik-Chirag, while Lakshya Sen was also scheduled to play his quarter-final later.
