Amit Shah Meets Murmu, Cabinet Reshuffle Buzz Grows

New Delhi, June 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s meeting with President Droupadi Murmu has triggered fresh political speculation over a possible reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers, coming just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called on the President.

While such meetings can be part of routine constitutional and political consultations, the timing has drawn attention in political circles. The speculation has gained momentum at a time when the BJP and the NDA are also looking at organisational and parliamentary adjustments ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.

Shah’s Visit Fuels Political Talk

Amit Shah called on President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. The meeting came shortly after PM Modi’s visit to the President earlier in the week. Modi’s meeting was seen by some as a customary briefing after his overseas engagements, but Shah’s visit has added to the buzz around possible changes in the government.

However, there has been no official confirmation from the government or the BJP linking the meeting to a Cabinet reshuffle. Party sources have indicated that such meetings may also be routine or courtesy calls.

Rajya Sabha Changes Add To Reshuffle Buzz

The reshuffle speculation has also been linked to recent developments involving Union Ministers of State. George Kurian stepped down from the Council of Ministers after his Rajya Sabha term ended and he was not renominated.

Ravneet Singh Bittu’s Rajya Sabha term also ended on the same date, though he continues to remain in the government. These developments have led to discussions over whether the Centre may soon make changes in ministerial responsibilities or induct new faces.

BJP Organisational Moves Under Watch

The BJP has also been making organisational changes in key states. Its revamp in Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, is being watched closely by political observers. The party is expected to focus on wider social representation and stronger state-level coordination before the next round of major polls.

Some party leaders believe the possible reshuffle, whenever it happens, may balance governance priorities with political requirements. The names of some recently elected Rajya Sabha members and senior organisational leaders are being discussed in political circles, although no official list has been released.

No Official Announcement Yet

Despite the strong buzz, senior sources have suggested that an immediate reshuffle before the next Parliament session may not be certain. Discussions are also continuing around possible gubernatorial appointments and changes in administrative responsibilities.

For now, the meeting between Shah and President Murmu has sharpened speculation, but the government has not made any formal announcement. Until an official statement is issued, the developments remain part of ongoing political discussion rather than a confirmed Cabinet exercise.
