Actor-producer Suriya explained the meaning of his new title, “The One,” at the audio launch of Scene. He said it is not a personal label but a symbol of the shared bond between him and his fans, whom he described as family.
A Title About Togetherness
Suriya said he does not view “The One” as a name or tagline meant to set him apart. Instead, he sees it as an identity created collectively by him and his fans. In his view, the title represents unity: it becomes meaningful because they share it. The explanation gives the phrase a personal meaning rooted in the relationship he has built with his audience over the years.
From ‘Nadippin Nayagan’ to ‘The One’
The actor has been known by several titles, including “Nadippin Nayagan,” often translated as “Prince of Acting.” “The One” marks a change in how fans address him. The title gained wider attention through Suriya’s character in Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro, released in 2025. At the Scene audio launch, Suriya clarified that he does not claim the phrase for himself alone; he connects it to the wider community of supporters around him.
Suriya Calls Fans His Family
Suriya described the affection he receives from fans as unconditional and said their connection feels like a family bond. He expressed gratitude for their continued support, adding that a simple thank-you could not fully acknowledge it. He also said he hoped to respond to their affection by continuing to entertain them through his work on screen. His remarks framed “The One” as a shared expression of that lasting relationship.
‘Scene’ Set for November 6 Release
The comments came as Suriya promotes Scene, which is scheduled to reach theatres on November 6. Written and directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film also stars Nazriya Nazim and Naslen. It is Suriya’s third release of 2026, following Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons. The audio launch gave the actor an opportunity to discuss both the film and the meaning behind a title that has become part of his public image.
