Devi Sri Prasad is set to make his lead acting debut in Yellamma, a rural drama directed by Balagam filmmaker Venu Yeldandi. The makers have announced a worldwide theatrical release for March 5, 2027, in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. DSP, as the composer is popularly known, will play a character named Parshi and will also compose the film’s music.
Yellamma Release Date Announced
Sri Venkateswara Creations announced the release date on October 20, during Dussehra celebrations. The production house said the film would arrive in theatres worldwide on March 5, 2027, with releases planned in five languages. The announcement gives audiences a confirmed date for Yeldandi’s next film and marks a new step in DSP’s career, as he takes on a lead role after building his reputation as a music director and performer.
Shooting is currently underway. The makers have not yet shared a full plot synopsis, so details about Parshi’s journey and the film’s story remain under wraps. The title and the film’s rural setting have been introduced, but more information about the narrative is expected in future updates.
DSP Takes the Lead as Parshi
Known to fans as Rockstar DSP, Devi Sri Prasad has composed music for films across Telugu and Tamil cinema. In Yellamma, he will appear on screen as the central character, Parshi. The makers introduced the character through a first-look poster released on DSP’s birthday. It showed him in a rustic appearance suited to the film’s village setting.
DSP is also composing the soundtrack, taking on both the lead acting and music responsibilities. The project will give audiences a chance to see him in a different role from his familiar work as a composer and stage performer.
Venu Yeldandi Returns to a Rural Setting
Yeldandi drew attention with his directorial debut, Balagam, a Telugu film centred on family relationships and village life. With Yellamma, he returns to a rural setting. The film is presented by Dil Raju and produced by Shirish under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
Reports have named Ananthika Sanilkumar as a possible female lead, but the makers have not officially confirmed her casting. Further details about the supporting cast and the film’s promotional plans have also not been announced.
With its release date now set, Yellamma is scheduled to reach audiences in five languages next March. The makers are expected to share more details about the cast, story and music as the film moves through production.
