Ramayana has begun its musical journey with the release of its first Telugu song, ‘Jai Jai Ram’, a devotional composition dedicated to Shri Ram. Composed by A.R. Rahman, with Telugu lyrics by Rakendu Mouli and vocals by Deepali Sahay and Raghav Kaushik, the song blends the spiritual feeling of an aarti with the emotion and scale of a cinematic track.

‘Jai Jai Ram’ Opens Ramayana’s Musical Journey
The makers of Ramayana unveiled ‘Jai Jai Ram’ as the film’s first song, introducing audiences to the musical world of the epic. Built around repeated invocations of Shri Ram’s name, the composition highlights his compassion, protection, strength and commitment to dharma. While devotional in spirit, the song has been designed with a cinematic soundscape that matches the grand scale of the film. Its simple lyrical structure and prayer-like quality are intended to make the track emotionally accessible while retaining a strong spiritual core.

Namit Malhotra and A.R. Rahman Explain the Song’s Spirit
Producer Namit Malhotra said Shri Ram remains the emotional centre of Ramayana and a guiding figure across generations. According to him, the song was created to reflect the deeper soul of the film — devotion, values and emotional connection — rather than just its large-scale visual presentation. He described Shri Ram as a source of strength in difficult moments, guidance during uncertainty and gratitude during happiness.

A.R. Rahman explained that the composition was built around the simplicity and power of repeating Shri Ram’s name. His intention was to retain the intimacy and purity of a prayer while allowing the music to gradually expand into a cinematic experience. Rahman also praised singers Deepali Sahay and Raghav Kaushik for bringing distinct emotion to Rakendu Mouli’s Telugu lyrics while maintaining the devotional essence of the song.

Rakendu Mouli Focuses on Simplicity and Devotion
Lyricist Rakendu Mouli said the words ‘Jai Jai Ram’ themselves form a complete prayer. Rather than attempting to define Shri Ram through elaborate descriptions, he focused on expressing the bond devotees share with him as a guide, protector, source of strength and refuge. The lyrics were intentionally kept simple and direct, with the aim of allowing listeners to connect with the prayer on a personal level.

Ramayana Heads for Diwali 2026 Release
The song arrives after the strong digital response to the Ramayana trailer, which the makers say crossed one billion views across platforms within six days. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures is handling global distribution outside India. Ramayana Part One is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2026, with ‘Jai Jai Ram’ now setting the devotional and emotional tone for the film’s musical campaign.
