Prime Video has announced that Telugu musical drama Jagamae Sangeetham, starring Prakash Raj, Madhubala and Meka Srikanth, will premiere worldwide on September 4. The series blends Carnatic music, family conflict, legacy and self-discovery.
Prime Video Sets September 4 Premiere
Prime Video has announced September 4 as the worldwide premiere date for its upcoming Telugu Original series Jagamae Sangeetham. The musical drama will stream exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories. It will be available in Telugu with English subtitles, along with a Tamil-dubbed version. Inspired by Prime Video’s Hindi Original series Bandish Bandits, the new series brings a distinctly Telugu cultural setting and places Carnatic music at the centre of its narrative.
Created and directed by Palnati Surya Pratap, Jagamae Sangeetham is produced by Sushmita Konidela. The series is written by Vangala Surya Manoj, Shravani Samudrala and A.R. Prabhav. Vishal Chandrasekar has composed the music, which plays a major role in shaping the emotional identity of the show. The soundtrack blends the richness of Carnatic tradition with contemporary musical influences, reflecting the conflicts and aspirations of its characters.
A Story of Music, Family and Legacy
The series follows Balu, the heir to the musical legacy of his grandfather Shastri, a respected figure deeply devoted to Carnatic music. Balu grows up carrying the weight of family expectations, fractured relationships and unresolved secrets from the past. When old rivalries return and threaten to damage generations of musical heritage, he is forced to choose between preserving the traditions built by his family and discovering an artistic identity of his own.
Music becomes more than a backdrop in the story. It functions as an emotional language through which the family expresses love, anger, pride, longing, resentment and hope. While Shastri’s world is firmly rooted in classical tradition, Balu gradually explores musical possibilities beyond those boundaries. This contrast between heritage and individuality forms the core of the series and gives the drama its emotional depth.
Strong Ensemble Cast
The series features an ensemble cast led by Prakash Raj, Meka Srikanth, Madhubala, Akshay Lagusani and Sushmita Shetty. It also stars Suman, Sijju Menon, Shafi, Jhansi, Raghu Babu Yerra, Rocket Raghava, Nagi Jabardasth, Mirchi Kiran, Keshav Deepak, Priyanka Nalkari, Manik Reddy, Prachi Thaker and Roopa Lakshmi in important roles.
With experienced performers and a story grounded in family relationships and music, Jagamae Sangeetham aims to combine cultural authenticity with themes that can connect with audiences beyond language and geography.
Music as the Emotional Heart
According to Prime Video, the series explores universal questions about tradition, ambition, belonging and the courage required to choose one’s own path. Producer Sushmita Konidela has described music as the emotional language of the family, expressing feelings that the characters are often unable to communicate directly.
By combining Carnatic music with family drama, generational conflict and self-discovery, Jagamae Sangeetham is positioned as a culturally rooted yet accessible musical drama. The series will begin streaming worldwide on Prime Video on September 4.
