AR Rahman has joined Masoom: The Next Generation as music director and co-producer after being strongly impressed by the film’s script.

AR Rahman Impressed By Masoom Sequel Script

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has joined Masoom: The Next Generation not only as the music director but also as a co-producer. Director Shekhar Kapur revealed that Rahman was deeply moved after listening to the film’s story and script. According to Kapur, Rahman’s response was immediate and emotional, as he personally showed interest in becoming part of the project in a larger creative role. This development has created fresh attention around the sequel to the 1983 classic Masoom, one of Hindi cinema’s most remembered emotional dramas.

Shekhar Kapur Confirms Project Progress

Shekhar Kapur shared that the sequel is moving ahead steadily, with the script completed and the cast finalized. The filmmaker also confirmed that the team is preparing to begin shooting later this year. Since Masoom remains an important film in Indian cinema history, expectations are naturally high for its next chapter. Kapur’s decision to bring AR Rahman on board adds strong musical and production value to the film, especially because Rahman is known for choosing projects with emotional depth and strong storytelling potential.

Music Work Already Underway

Work on the music of Masoom: The Next Generation has already started. Shekhar Kapur said that one song has been completed, while another track is currently being developed. Rahman’s music is expected to play a key role in shaping the emotional tone of the sequel. The original Masoom was remembered for its sensitive storytelling and memorable music, and the new film is expected to carry forward that emotional atmosphere while presenting a fresh generational story. Rahman’s involvement as both composer and co-producer suggests that he may have a deeper creative influence on the film’s overall presentation.

Star Cast And Expectations

Masoom: The Next Generation is expected to feature Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Manoj Bajpayee, Nithya Menen and Kaveri Kapur in key roles. While the makers are yet to reveal full details about the plot, the film is expected to continue the emotional legacy of the original while exploring new relationships and conflicts. With Shekhar Kapur returning to the world of Masoom and AR Rahman joining as co-producer, the sequel has gained strong industry buzz. The combination of a powerful script, respected actors and Rahman’s music is likely to make the film one of the most watched upcoming Hindi cinema projects.

Why The Sequel Is Drawing Attention

The project is gaining attention because it brings together the emotional legacy of Masoom, Shekhar Kapur’s direction and AR Rahman’s music. With a respected cast and a completed script, Masoom: The Next Generation is expected to attract both classic cinema lovers and new-age audiences.
