Complaint Against HC Mahadevappa Sparks Karnataka Cabinet Buzz
A corruption complaint against Congress MLA HC Mahadevappa has added a new political twist ahead of Karnataka’s expected cabinet expansion.
HC Mahadevappa Complaint Puts Karnataka Cabinet Hopes In Focus
A complaint seeking an independent probe into alleged corruption and irregularities involving Karnataka Congress MLA and former Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa has reached the Karnataka Governor, adding a fresh political twist ahead of the expected cabinet expansion.
According to the complaint, a Bengaluru resident has urged Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to order a time-bound investigation into allegations linked to welfare funds, tender processes, and official records during Mahadevappa’s tenure as minister.
Complaint Mentions Welfare Funds And Tenders
The complaint reportedly alleges misuse of welfare funds, manipulation of tenders issued by the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society, also known as KREIS, fabrication of documents, and abuse of official position.
The complainant has also sought verification of documents submitted by contractors in connection with several high-value tenders. Action has been demanded against those found responsible if the allegations are established through an investigation.
Political Timing Draws Attention
The development comes at a sensitive time for the ruling Congress in Karnataka. Mahadevappa’s name has been discussed in political circles as one of the possible contenders for a ministerial berth in the cabinet expansion expected before the end of June.
The issue has also surfaced amid lobbying within the Congress over cabinet positions. Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra has alleged that the race for ministerial posts has intensified factional politics within the ruling party.
Supporters Demand Cabinet Berth
Earlier, Dalit organisations had staged protests at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, demanding that Mahadevappa, a senior Dalit leader and former minister, be included in the new cabinet.
The demand has made the issue politically significant, as the Congress leadership weighs representation, internal balance, and cabinet expansion decisions.
Allegations Yet To Be Verified
Neither Mahadevappa nor the Congress has publicly responded to the allegations mentioned in the complaint so far. The claims remain allegations at this stage, and no investigating agency has made any findings.
The matter is now being watched closely as Karnataka’s cabinet expansion talks continue and political pressure builds within the ruling party.
