WPL 2027 Auction: Date, Time and Venue

The Women’s Premier League 2027 auction takes place at Grand Hyatt Kochi on Wednesday, October 28, beginning at 5:30 PM IST. Five franchises will compete to fill gaps in their squads ahead of the tournament’s fifth edition.

The shortlist includes 146 players: 119 Indians and 27 overseas cricketers. Among the Indian players, 22 are capped and 97 uncapped. The overseas contingent includes six players from Associate nations. A maximum of 27 players can be signed across the franchises. Being shortlisted does not guarantee a contract, as teams must work within their available budgets and squad limits.

Live Streaming: Where to Watch the Auction

The auction will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network, with live streaming available on the JioHotstar app and website from 5:30 PM IST.

Kochi is hosting the WPL auction for the first time. The event gives supporters an early look at how their teams are preparing for the 2027 season, scheduled from January 14 to February 7.

Players to Watch: Highest Base Prices and Key Names

England batter Sophia Dunkley and Australia all-rounder Sophie Molineux lead the auction list with base prices of Rs 50 lakh each.

G Kamalini, Kiran Navgire, Heather Graham and Jess Jonassen have entered at Rs 40 lakh. Another 30 players feature in the Rs 30 lakh bracket, offering franchises a mix of international experience and Indian options. A base price is the starting bid, rather than a guaranteed signing amount.

Other notable names in the supplied list include Chamari Athapaththu, Grace Harris, Sneh Rana, Titas Sadhu, Saika Ishaque and Asha Sobhana. Associate-nation representation includes Scotland’s Sarah Bryce and Kathryn Bryce, the Netherlands’ Babette de Leede and the UAE’s Esha Oza.

Team Purses: Updated Budgets and Available Slots

UP Warriorz enter with the largest remaining purse of Rs 3.75 crore. Mumbai Indians have Rs 90 lakh after acquiring USA left-arm pacer Tara Norris from UP Warriorz at her existing fee of Rs 10 lakh.

The trade also changes the two teams’ available places: Mumbai have six vacancies and a full overseas quota, while UP Warriorz have eight vacancies, including three overseas places. The overall number of available slots remains 27.

Franchise Remaining Purse Available Slots Overseas Slots
UP Warriorz Rs 3.75 crore 8 3
Gujarat Giants Rs 1.25 crore 3 1
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Rs 1.15 crore 5 2
Delhi Capitals Rs 1.10 crore 5 1
Mumbai Indians Rs 90 lakh 6 0

These figures reflect the position after the Norris trade, replacing the earlier retention-day budgets and vacancies. UP Warriorz have the greatest spending flexibility, while Mumbai must focus on Indian recruits to complete their squad.
