Hundreds of tourists faced tense moments in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg on Monday, May 25, 2026, after a technical snag halted the famous Gulmarg Gondola cable car service. Several cabins reportedly stopped mid-air while visitors were onboard, creating panic at the popular hill destination. Officials said both phases of the Gondola service were suspended soon after the malfunction was detected to prevent further risk.

Rescue Operation Completed Safely

Jammu and Kashmir Police, SF Spl CI teams, and HAWAS also joined the operation. Officials confirmed that all stranded tourists were safely rescued from the cabins.
