Why The Reported US-Israel Ahmadinejad Iran Plan Failed
US-Israel Iran Plan Reportedly Failed After Ahmadinejad Withdrawal
A reported US-Israel plan to reshape Iran’s leadership after wartime strikes has triggered fresh debate over Tehran’s succession crisis. The report claimed the strategy went beyond weakening Iran’s missile and nuclear network and also explored a political transition inside the country.
Ahmadinejad’s Reported Role
Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reportedly considered as a possible internal figure after the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Planners believed his strained relationship with Iran’s ruling establishment could make him useful, despite his hardline record.
Why The Plan Collapsed
The plan reportedly began to fail after an airstrike near Ahmadinejad’s residence in Tehran’s Narmak district. The strike was said to have targeted a security post near his home, but Ahmadinejad survived and later disappeared from public view. Iran’s leadership also held together, while expected unrest, Kurdish mobilisation, and influence efforts did not bring the planned result. With Ahmadinejad no longer available, the alleged regime-change effort failed.
