Punjab on High Alert After Explosions Near BSF Installations in Jalandhar, Amritsar

Punjab has been placed on high alert after two explosions were reported near Border Security Force (BSF) establishments in Jalandhar and Amritsar. While no casualties have been reported, police and central agencies have launched detailed investigations into both incidents.

The first explosion occurred near the BSF headquarters at Jalandhar’s BSF Chowk, where a parked scooter suddenly exploded and caught fire in a busy area. The blast triggered panic among residents and passersby, with eyewitnesses reporting that people rushed away as flames and debris spread across the road.

Hours later, another explosion was reported near an Army camp in the Khasa area of Amritsar, close to BSF installations. Officials suspect that a motorcycle-borne individual may have hurled a grenade at the site. The area lies around 15 kilometres from the Attari-Wagah international border, a sensitive zone.

Punjab Police, along with forensic teams, dog squads, and bomb disposal units, were immediately deployed to both locations. CCTV footage from Jalandhar is being examined, and officials are questioning individuals linked to the incidents to piece together the sequence of events.

Authorities said the exact cause of the explosions is yet to be confirmed, and investigations are ongoing from multiple angles. Security has been tightened across Punjab, particularly in border districts, as officials assess whether the incidents were isolated or part of a larger conspiracy.
