Supriya Yarlagadda has been named as one of the 18 members of the newly reconstituted Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Government of India announced the appointments on Wednesday, 16th September 2026, and the newly selected members assumed their responsibilities with immediate effect. Supriya’s inclusion is considered significant for the Telugu film industry because of her long-standing association with cinema, production and Annapurna Studios. Her experience in the entertainment business is expected to contribute an important regional and industry perspective to the board’s work.
Prominent Film Personalities Named to Board
The reconstituted CBFC includes several respected personalities from different sections of the Indian film industry. Actors Manoj Joshi, Suniel Shetty, Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi and Pallavi Joshi are among those appointed as members. Acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan and prominent Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee have also joined the board. The inclusion of performers, producers and filmmakers from different industries is expected to bring varied professional experience and viewpoints to the film-certification process.
Members Appointed for Three-Year Term
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting constituted the new board under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act. According to the announcement, the members will serve for a period of three years or until further orders from the government. During their tenure, they will participate in the CBFC’s responsibilities relating to the examination and certification of films intended for public exhibition. The appointments have taken effect immediately, allowing the newly formed board to begin carrying out its official duties.
