Karnataka Power Shift: DKS Starts With Big Promises As Siddaramaiah Still Holds Weight
DK Shivakumar has started his Karnataka CM term with major youth and infrastructure announcements, but Siddaramaiah’s influence remains a key political talking point.
DKS Starts With Youth Push
DK Shivakumar has begun his journey as Karnataka Chief Minister with a strong message on youth welfare, jobs and Bengaluru development. In his first Cabinet meeting, he announced free bus passes for all students on non-luxury government buses, making student travel one of the first major decisions of his government.
The new CM also announced plans for a private employment exchange to connect job seekers with private-sector opportunities. Along with this, the government is preparing to move ahead with recruitment for 56,000 government posts, giving the new administration an employment-focused start.
Siddaramaiah Shadow Still Visible
Even as Shivakumar takes charge, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah continues to remain a powerful figure in Karnataka Congress politics. The Cabinet balance has created discussion that Siddaramaiah’s influence has not faded, even after he stepped down from the top post.
Bengaluru Roads And Youth Clubs
Shivakumar also announced 10,000 youth associations across Karnataka, along with Rs 2,000 crore for Bengaluru road asphalting. These early moves show that the new government wants to focus on students, jobs, youth leadership, and city infrastructure.
For Karnataka, the leadership has changed, but the real political test will be whether Shivakumar can run his government firmly while managing Siddaramaiah’s strong presence within the Congress setup.
