BCom Paper Leak Case: Mumbai University Begins Detailed Probe

The University of Mumbai has initiated an official inquiry into the alleged leak of three question papers from its third-year BCom examinations held between April 10 and 15. University authorities confirmed that the investigation is currently underway, with all details being kept confidential to maintain the integrity of the process. Officials have assured that strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty of involvement in the incident.

The controversy surfaced after students approached the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), requesting intervention. Acting on these complaints, a university inspection team visited R D National College in Bandra on April 15 during the taxation exam. During the visit, officials questioned a student and checked his mobile phone, which reportedly helped identify additional individuals. Several devices were seized as part of the ongoing investigation to track digital communication and evidence.

Preliminary reports suggest that answers to certain questions were circulating on social media groups even before the exams were conducted, raising concerns of a broader security lapse. While some students were identified through these leads, authorities allowed them to continue writing their exams. ABVP has alleged that question papers from subjects like taxation, economics, and commerce were leaked in advance and has demanded criminal action. Claims of attempts to suppress the issue have also emerged, though no official response has been issued by the college administration so far.
