omposer Anirudh Ravichander has added to the anticipation for Jailer 2 with a tribute to Rajinikanth’s enduring legacy. In a post ahead of the October 15 release, he celebrated the Superstar’s ability to entertain generations and called the film Rajinikanth’s 172nd outing. The sequel reunites the actor with director Nelson Dilipkumar and composer Anirudh after the success of 2023’s Jailer.

Anirudh Celebrates Rajinikanth’s Legacy

Reflecting on Rajinikanth’s 51-year journey, Anirudh wrote that the actor has given audiences happiness, laughter, goosebumps and lifelong memories. He said Rajinikanth continues to create magic and rewrite history, highlighting the lasting connection between the star and fans across generations. Looking ahead to the new release, Anirudh wrote: “Tomorrow, once again for the 172nd time, the lights will dim, the screens will ignite and hopefully with all your wishes, the world will witness the love for a man who lives in the hearts of every Indian.” He signed off, “One Sun. One Moon. And One :)” and tagged Rajinikanth, Nelson and Sun Pictures.

Jailer 2 Reunites Its Core Team

Anirudh returns as composer after scoring the first Jailer. His music, Rajinikanth’s screen presence and Nelson’s dark humour contributed to the 2023 film’s appeal. The sequel reunites the trio, while its makers keep most plot details under wraps. The original followed Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer whose quiet family life was disrupted by a dangerous confrontation. It became a major box-office success and introduced the character Rajinikanth reprises in the sequel.

Cast, Direction and Release Date

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial. Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu are among the returning cast members. New additions include Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu; Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar are also expected to reprise their roles. Produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is set to release in theatres on October 15. Rajinikanth’s return, the original team’s reunion and Anirudh’s music have made it one of the season’s most anticipated films. Audiences will soon see whether the sequel can recapture the theatrical excitement of the first Jailer.
