Nandamuri Balakrishna is set to resume shooting for Dada after recovering from injuries that kept him away from work for nearly two months. The makers are now pushing ahead with a carefully planned schedule as they aim to keep the film on track for its December 24 theatrical release.
Balakrishna Returns to Dada After Recovery
Balakrishna has recovered from the injuries he suffered during filming and is ready to return to the sets of Dada. After almost two months of rest, the actor has reportedly allotted 15 days for a new schedule in Mysore. Once this schedule is completed, the team is expected to need around 20 more days to finish his remaining portions, taking the total pending work involving Balakrishna to roughly 35 days. A song featuring the actor, composed by Thaman, is also part of the unfinished shoot.
Team Targets December 24 Release
The makers are reportedly working with a tight but structured plan to retain the December 24 release date. Director Gopichand Malineni is said to have already completed several scenes and episodes that do not require Balakrishna, and those portions are now in post-production. This advance planning is expected to help the team save time once the actor rejoins the shoot. In addition to the Mysore schedule, some sequences are also likely to be filmed at Kakinada Port as part of the remaining production work.
Balakrishna Plays a Gangster in Mafia Drama
Dada is being described as a mafia drama in which Balakrishna reportedly plays a gangster. The film is expected to present the actor in a different setting with elements that the makers believe audiences have not seen from him before. Despite the injury-related delay, Balakrishna is said to be determined to complete the project on time, while the team feels a Christmas release could give the film a better theatrical window than postponing it further.
The makers are also reportedly keeping the OTT release calendar in mind while finalising the theatrical plan. However, if unforeseen delays affect the current schedule, the film could be pushed to Sankranthi 2027. Such a move may place Dada in direct competition with films featuring Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh, making the December release an important target for the team.
Teaser Response Raises Expectations
The teaser of Dada has already received a positive response, and the makers are confident that the trailer will further increase expectations. The reunion of Balakrishna and Gopichand Malineni after Veera Simha Reddy has added to the buzz surrounding the project. Manoj Manchu playing the antagonist is another major attraction, adding a fresh face-off to the mafia drama. With Balakrishna returning to work and the remaining schedules now being planned closely, the next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether Dada can successfully meet its December 24 release target.
