Ajay Devgn has confirmed that Drishyam 3 will bring Vijay Salgaonkar’s journey to a definitive close. The actor says Abhishek Pathak’s carefully developed screenplay offers a fitting conclusion while taking a different route from Mohanlal’s Malayalam version.

Drishyam 3 Designed as the Final Chapter

Ajay Devgn has revealed that the Hindi Drishyam franchise will end with its third instalment. Speaking at the film’s trailer launch, the actor explained that the team preferred to conclude the series on a strong note instead of extending it without a convincing narrative. The first two films established Vijay Salgaonkar as an intelligent family man who repeatedly stays ahead of investigators while protecting his loved ones from the consequences of a crime. The third chapter is expected to resolve his long-running battle and provide emotional closure to the story.

Finding the Right Story Proved Difficult

According to Ajay, developing another sequel was challenging because the new film had to continue naturally from the ending of Drishyam 2 while retaining the suspense, twists and strategic mind games associated with the franchise. Director Abhishek Pathak eventually proposed the central idea and spent nearly two-and-a-half years working with writers to shape the screenplay. Ajay said the completed script convinced the team that Vijay Salgaonkar’s story could be taken forward without weakening what had already been established. He also praised Abhishek’s growth as a filmmaker and expressed confidence in both his writing and execution.

Hindi Film Takes a Different Route From Mohanlal’s Version

Ajay also addressed comparisons between the Hindi franchise and the original Malayalam films led by Mohanlal. While the Hindi version of Drishyam 2 drew certain elements from its Malayalam counterpart, the third instalments reportedly follow different scripts and narrative directions. This means the Hindi film will not simply recreate the events of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3. Instead, Abhishek Pathak and his team have developed an independent conclusion suited to Vijay Salgaonkar’s journey in the Hindi adaptation.

Despite the two versions moving in separate directions, Ajay spoke warmly about Mohanlal and expressed his eagerness to show him the Hindi film. He said he would be delighted if Mohanlal and the Malayalam team watched the new instalment.
