The official trailer of Namit Malhotra’s highly anticipated Ramayana: Part One was released globally on Thursday, July 30, 2026, marking the beginning of one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious mythological franchises.

The trailer was launched simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, offering audiences across India their first detailed look at the grand cinematic adaptation directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and eight-time Academy Award-winning visual-effects company DNEG, the film is co-produced by Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Ramayana: Part One is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026.

Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash Lead the Epic

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, the prince of Ayodhya destined to restore balance and uphold dharma. Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, bringing strength, dignity and compassion to the revered character.

Yash takes on the role of Ravana, the powerful and learned king whose pride and desire for vengeance place him on a path toward an inevitable confrontation with Rama. Yash is also associated with the project as a co-producer through Monster Mind Creations.

The story follows Rama as he attempts to lead a life of honour with Sita and his loyal brother Lakshmana. However, an unexpected turn of events forces him into exile and sets the stage for a conflict that will shape the destiny of both gods and mortals.

Ramayana Trailer Highlights Scale and Emotion

The newly released trailer combines mythological imagery, emotional drama, elaborate production design and large-scale visual effects. It introduces the divine forces of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva before presenting Rama’s journey as the human incarnation chosen to restore balance in a world moving toward chaos.

The visuals also offer glimpses of Ayodhya, Rama and Sita’s relationship, the exile and Ravana’s imposing presence. The makers aim to combine the spiritual and emotional foundations of the epic with the scale and technical quality of a global cinematic production.

Powerful Supporting Cast Revealed

The film features an extensive ensemble drawn from different generations of Indian cinema.

Arun Govil, remembered for his portrayal of Lord Rama on television, plays King Dasharatha. Ravie Dubey appears as Lakshmana, while Ajinkya Deo portrays Sage Vishwamitra.

The supporting cast also includes Shobana as Kaikesi, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha.

Nitesh Tiwari Directs the Two-Part Film

Nitesh Tiwari, known for films including Dangal, directs the two-part cinematic adaptation. The screenplay has been adapted by award-winning writer Shridhar Raghavan.

According to the filmmakers, every creative element—from the performances and writing to the sets, music and visual effects—has been developed with the aim of presenting the epic with authenticity, dignity and cinematic ambition.

Tiwari said the story is already universal because of the timeless values it represents. His focus, he explained, was to approach the material with honesty and reverence while using modern filmmaking techniques to bring its scale and humanity to the screen.

Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman Compose the Music

The film brings together Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, marking one of the biggest musical collaborations between international and Indian cinema.

Their involvement is expected to give the film a distinctive global sound while retaining the emotional and cultural character of the original epic.

Producer Namit Malhotra described Ramayana as more than a film, calling it the beginning of a larger journey to present India’s cultural heritage to global audiences.

He said the epic continues to shape Indian traditions, festivals and values even after thousands of years. The production seeks to combine Indian storytelling with internationally recognised artists, technicians and filmmaking technology.

Prime Focus Studios is developing the project as a two-part theatrical event and the foundation of a wider transmedia universe inspired by the ancient story.
