Anvaya – A Confluence of North and South brings together the grace and storytelling traditions of Kathak and Mohiniyattam for an enchanting evening of Indian classical dance.
Presented by Lasya Akademi of Mohiniyattam and Behala Global Academy of Fine Arts, the programme features acclaimed Kathak exponent Vidushi Saswati Sen, a disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj, and renowned Mohiniyattam exponent Vidushi Pallavi Krishnan.
The evening presents two evocative productions. Basabdatta, inspired by the works of Rabindranath Tagore, explores love, longing, devotion, compassion and spiritual strength. Choreographed by Saswati Sen, it is performed by students of Kalashram and disciples of Pandit Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen. Kunti – A Mother’s Plight portrays Kunti’s emotional journey through motherhood, sacrifice, guilt and resilience.
Blending movement, music, poetry and dramatic storytelling, Anvaya celebrates the meeting of North and South India’s rich classical dance traditions.
