AASRA is an NGO working in the field of mental health and suicide prevention. The organisation focuses on supporting people in distress through active listening, emotional support and confidential communication.
AASRA connects trained volunteers with people who need support through phone, writing or in-person interaction at their centre. The approach is non-judgmental, non-critical and focused on providing a safe space for people to express themselves.
Those interested in volunteering can sign up for the helpline service, which includes six months of training. People can also support AASRA through publicity, fundraising, blogs and social media awareness.
