NIMHANS offers volunteering opportunities for people who want to support mental health, rehabilitation and awareness initiatives in Bengaluru. Volunteers from different backgrounds, including students, retired people, counsellors, homemakers and working professionals, can contribute depending on available requirements.
Volunteers may support recreational and skill-based activities such as arts, yoga, domestic skills, paper bag making, computer training, music, dance, hobbies and games. They can also help with marketing products made by persons with psychiatric disabilities, fundraising for rehabilitation activities, welfare support and awareness work.
NIMHANS also runs the Youth-Pro initiative, which encourages youth volunteers to promote positive mental health, fight stigma and create awareness through posters, skits, videos, songs, poems, stories and campus campaigns. Youth-Pro volunteering does not involve clinical work or direct interaction with hospital patients.
